**EVENT HAPPENING APRIL 25, 2009**

WHAT: U.N. AMBASSADORS FACE OFF TO RAISE AWARENESS OF SOCCER AS AN INSTRUMENT OF PEACE IN POST-CONFLICT COUNTRIES

WHO: Ambassadors from countries around the world and other high-level representatives; the founder and president of Play31, Jakob Silas Lund

WHEN: 7:30pm to 8:30pm. Pitch opens at 7:00 pm. After the game, all are invited to celebrate at a local bar, location TBD

WHERE: Pier 40, 353 West – Cross at West Houston Street and Clarkson (see below for details)

BACKGROUND: Come and watch UN ambassadors shed their suits and ties for soccer shoes and shorts! Ambassadors from Chile, Lichtenstein, Bosnia, Timor Leste, Paraguay and the United Kingdom, among several other nations, will square off in a soccer (aka football) match to highlight the importance of the sport as a means for facilitating reconciliation in areas impacted by conflict and violence. The two teams will be led by Chilean Ambassador Heraldo Muñoz and the Ambassador from Liechtenstein Christian Wenaweser.

Match will benefit Play31, a global organization that uses soccer in Sierra Leone to bring together communities torn apart by conflict.
